November 2022 Running Update
If you’re new to Journey to Chamonix, then welcome to my monthly running update!
Each month I track my progress to my goal of running in the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB), which I’m hoping to achieve in the next few years. Qualification races, lotteries and a Strava load of training to do first though. For the latest progress read on!
Since last update
In November there wasn’t too much on the cards.
I managed to complete a few parkruns. Two of which were Lilydale lake Parkrun. One of my favourite courses. It’s two laps of a very flat loop. Perfect for a PB attempt. I managed to get a Course PB of 17:21 which was very close to my overall 5km PB that I achieved earlier in the year at Princess Park Parkrun.
I was also able to get to the pool and complete some cross training. I had set out at the start of the year to swim 100 km but I wasn’t going to get anywhere near that. Still, it reinforced the benefits I felt after some laps of the pool. I find swimming helps with the recovery of my body, particularly my legs. I find it quite relaxing and therapeutic, perhaps not terms non-swimmers would use for this type of exercise!
I had no races planned for November, as I began to wind down for the year. The goal for the remainder of the year was to maintain my fitness as we headed into December and the Christmas and New Years period.
As I turned my attention toward what I have planned for 2023. I managed to book a spot in the 2023 Ultra-Trail Australia! I am very excited about exploring the trails in and around Katoomba, NSW and the Blue Mountains as I collect a few running stones. Just what I need to be doing on my journey to Chamonix and the Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc.
Thanks for checking in on my progress and all the best with your own workouts and events you’re planning for December! Check out my Race Schedule for more detail on other events I’m looking to tackle in 2022 and beyond.
