Running Update 16th November 2020
Time for a new update on my Journey to Chamonix.
Starting with a bit of a recap. My knee is still a little sore but on the mend. I can feel it getting stronger. I’m still trying to take things easy though to build back up to the activity levels that I was at prior to the injury.
“Be patient. Allow your body to heal.”
When I have been out for a run, I have headed toward the tracks that are easier on my knee. Grass and crushed rock have been preferred. I have found that my body is not experiencing a jarring movement like it does on concrete or a rubber track.
“What is your ideal surface to run on?”
My knee has felt good after all the grass and crushed rock track running. Sometimes it’s a little stiff getting started, but after the first kms, it warms up. Working remotely and sitting at a desk all day probably doesn’t help. I think the knee is mending though.
Due to the easing restrictions, I was able to book in a run with a few friends at Westerfolds Park. I was invigorated by the social interaction and conversation after so long. It was the best I have felt running on concrete since my injury. After the 10 km, I pulled up well.
I was also invited to go for a short job with Tom, a mate of mine. We took it easy along a local trail. Again, good to catch up. It’s best running with friends.
How have I progressed
- Upped my training distances
Stats since last update
