December 2021 Running Update
If you’re new to Journey to Chamonix, then welcome to my monthly running update!
Each month I track my progress to my goal of running in the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB), which I’m hoping to achieve in the next few years. Qualification races, lotteries and a Strava load of training to do first though. For the latest progress read on!
Since last update
My biggest run for the year has now been completed. In early December, I finally completed the Surf Coast Century! It had been postponed a couple of times due to COVID restrictions but now I can say I’ve completed my first 100 km event! Yes definitely plans to do another in the coming years. Stay tuned for my race report and video on how it went.
Just a sneaky preview on a couple of photos.
With the Surf Coast Century done and dusted, the rest of December was largely allocated to rest and relaxation. Coming into Christmas, this was not easy but I tried to stay off my feet and let my body recover. 100 km is a long way and rest is important especially with the goals I have planned for 2022.
My next event and focus now has turned toward the Pier to Pub swimming event in Lorne. 1.2 km open water swim shouldn’t test me too much as I have grown up swimming a lot. I was able to return to the pool and smash out a few kms to ensure I can tackle it. I’m really looking forward to it as it’s definitely an event I have been interested in for a few years now.
As I look back on 2021 and toward 2022, I am pleased to see that I have achieved several of my goals I had in place. Not only that, I have been able to set some challenging targets for 2022 that will bring me closer to my dream of running the UTMB. Check them out here!
Thanks for checking in on my progress and all the best with your own workouts and events you’re planning for January! Check out my Race Schedule for more detail on other events I’m looking to tackle in 2022 and beyond.

F*ckin’ amazing issues here. I am very happy to peer your article. Thank you so much and i’m having a look ahead to contact you. Will you please drop me a mail?
Thank you, I’ve just been looking for information about this subject for a long time and yours is the greatest I have discovered till now. However, what about the conclusion? Are you sure concerning the supply?
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100 positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
